Orion + Marie-Anne
Some locations do the work for you. A vintage caravan parked on open ground, late-season light, and two people who clearly have a good thing going β Orion and Marie-Anne brought all of that to their couples session, and my job was mostly to stay out of the way and keep the camera moving.
What the session captured was exactly the kind of energy that makes lifestyle couples photography worth doing. They were playful, physical, unselfconscious β laughing and climbing on each other around the caravan while the light turned golden and the whole thing looked like something from a very good summer. This is what happens when people stop performing for the camera and just get on with being themselves.
Shooting in non-studio, outdoor settings requires a different mindset. Youβre reading light thatβs constantly changing, working with a background that you canβt control, and following people through a space rather than directing them through one. I prefer it. The images have a quality that a controlled shoot canβt replicate β a sense of real place and real time, with real people in the middle of it.
Iβm a Rotterdam-based lifestyle and couples photographer, and I work with people across the Netherlands who want images that feel genuine rather than produced. If youβre looking for a couples session β whether you have a brilliant location in mind or youβd like me to suggest one β get in touch and letβs make something worth keeping.
